<\/a>CHAPTER 35 [PRINCIPAL LEGISLATION]\n<\/p>\n ARRANGEMENT OF SECTIONS\n<\/p>\n Section<\/i>\n<\/p>\n Title\n<\/p>\n 1.<\/a> Short title.\n<\/p>\n 2.<\/a> Public holidays.\n<\/p>\n 3.<\/a> Alteration or addition of a public holiday.\n<\/p>\n 4.<\/a> When public holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday.\n<\/p>\n 5.<\/a> Right to open public offices and require attendance of public servants and Government employees.\n<\/p>\n 6.<\/a> [Repealed.]\n<\/p>\n \n SCHEDULE\n<\/p>\n CHAPTER 35 An Act to make provision for public holidays and for related matters.<\/b>\n<\/p>\n [8th October, 1920]\n<\/p>\n Ords. Nos. {mprestriction ids=”1,2,3″}<\/p>\n <\/a>1. Short title\n<\/p>\n This Act may be cited as the Public Holidays Act.\n<\/p>\n <\/a>2. Public holidays\n<\/p>\n The days set out in the Schedule to this Act shall in every year be observed as public holidays.\n<\/p>\n <\/a>3. Alteration or addition of a public holiday\n<\/p>\n The President may, by proclamation, declare any day to be a public holiday in addition to the days set out in the Schedule or in substitution for any of them and thereupon such day shall be a public holiday as if it were set out in the Schedule.\n<\/p>\n <\/a>4. When public holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday\n<\/p>\n If any day appointed to be a public holiday falls on a Saturday or a Sunday, the next following day, not being itself a public holiday shall be a public holiday and shall be also kept as a public holiday in lieu of the Saturday or Sunday.\n<\/p>\n
